Utah Limited Entry Applications now accepted.

Make sure you submit your big game draw application with the Utah DWR this week to ensure a tag for the upcoming hunt. I know that last year the statewide Archery tags did go over the counter, but were sold out in a matter of hours. This year it wouldn’t surprise me at all if guys can’t get a tag because they didn’t draw out. If you want to hunt deer in Utah, do not wait to try and buy a tag over the counter! Log on to www.wildlife.utah.gov... [Read More...]

The highs and lows of hunting Utah Elk.

This year I was lucky to draw out a limited entry bull tag in Utah’s Central Nebo unit. This was totaly unexpected as I went into the drawing with no points. Utah’s draw system consists of points you get a point for ever year you don’t draw out the higher the points the better your odds. As previously posted Scott and Allen with Addicted also drew out this tag. As well as Scott father. So we had a big task before us 4 bulls in a... [Read More...]

Fight like Susan – OBS Challenge

This is a fantastic challenge for the OBS to issue. Cancer does suck and it will effect everyone at one time in there life. This year Cancer has played a huge roll in our hunting traditions. Earlier this year our father was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 56. Talk about a buzz kill. Luckily they had caught it early and in an early stage. There is a lot that goes into treating this cancer. Unfortunately he also had an enlarged prostate so they... [Read More...]

Scouting For Bull Elk

So this morning Allen and I were able to finally get out and do some scouting for our limited entry tag. Scott has been out every week for the last month and had some good areas in mind. We started out glassing some big meadows from up top. We spotted a cow in one of the meadows but she seemed to be alone. So we continued down the road and in less than a mile we came accross 15 plus head of Elk just off the side of the road. There were a couple of... [Read More...]

PSE Bow Madness

Attention all archery hunters. This year PSE has come out with one of the best main line bows ever. Its the Bow Madness its not getting alot of attention but has to be one of the nicest single cam bows out there. It has such a smooth draw to it and it is real easy to tune. We have sold a bunch of them and love tuneing them because it takes 5 minutes and your shooting bullets. The total bow weight is 3.5 lbs and is cranking out arrows at an IBO speed... [Read More...]

Gun Rights!

OK so I just spent a week up at Scout Camp teaching boys ages 12-18 how to properly use archery equipment and rifles. It was a great experience. The majority of the boys have never even shot a gun or a bow. I took my son up with me for the whole week and he took up his .22 Cricket single shot as well as his bow. He is 6 years old and I have taken him shooting before but this was the first time he got to spend an entire week shooting. I think he may... [Read More...]

Pre Season Scouting

This is the most important thing a hunter can do to ensure a successful season. But it is something a lot of hunters don’t do. I’ve got to admit that I don’t do enough of it myself. Its hard to make the time to get out and do it. If your like me as soon as the snow melts my schedule gets packed with games at the ball park, yard care, family vacations, and honey-do’s. Spring and summer tend to go by real quick and I find myself... [Read More...]

Central Nebo Tags

Ok so it appears that 3 Addicts drew out for Central Nebo Utah Elk tags for this year. That is pretty lucky as it amounts to 10% of all the tags given in this area. Scott, Allen and I will be heading out this fall to get it done and will hopefully be able to share some sucess stories. I should also mention that Scotts dad also drew out in this area so we are looking to tag 4 Bulls this fall. This is a tall order to fill so we are open to any help.... [Read More...]
