OK so I haven’t been able to post for the last few months due to multiple reasons. I think that I’m going to go with Depression. 2008 was a tough season for a lot of hunters. The fall weather didn’t cooperate and messed up everyone’s routine. But at the end of the day I spent a lot of time up in the hills chasing after some magnificent animals. I came face to face with a monster buck that would have been a contender in the record books if only I was a full draw when he popped up on me. Who can forget the story of My neighbor tried to kill me. My legs are still recovering from that adventure. But at the end of the day I was unsuccessful but had a lot of fun and took home some good memories.
So what to do in the off season. Now is a good time to research the draw results in your state and see how different areas played out. Also get your name in the hat for Spring hunts for Turkey and Bear. Its a good excuse to hit the hills in the Spring get some practice and do a little leg work on possible new areas. With the new year we get new gear coming out. A few friends of ours are PSE staff shooters and they just got the new 2009 X-Force that goes up to 80 Pounds with an 80 percent let off. They were chronographing arrows last night at 339 FPS that is incredible. The difference in a shot from 20 yard to 50 yards is only 1 inch. Talk about a single pin bow. Check out Timberhawk packs on our main page they got some of the best gear packs in the business.
Enjoy some football because Spring is around the corner and then its time to get serious for your 2009 tag.
I know the depression feeling – my season wasn’t the greatest either. That’s okay, though, because turkey season is right around the corner. It’s time to leave 2008 in the past and move on to 2009.
