Kids say the funniest things.

Here in Utah we have an abundant surplus of Jack rabbits in our western desert. During the spring we like to go get some target practice in and do our part to weed out the population. With Easter approaching we were in the car today and my 9 year old who is old enough to understand that I’m killing rabbits but not old enough to have figured out the reality of the Easter bunny got this real worried look in her eye and said dad what if you killed the Easter bunny? What will all the kids do on Easter? I was laughing inside as I tried to figure out a way to explain how I was sure I hadn’t killed the Easter bunny. All I could come up with was all the bunny’s I’ve shot were grey and the Easter bunny is white. Glad she bought it.

Reminds of the time I told my brother, in the presence of my niece, that I killed the first available turkey I had an opportunity at, in order to “get the monkey of my back”. She looked at me with a puzzled face, and said “you had a monkey on your back?”. It was hysterical.
I’m glad she bought your story. Kids sure do say the darndest things.
