Congratulations Neville on the Successful Elk Hunt!

Congratulations Neville on the Successful Elk Hunt!

We received this story from one of our favorite readers Neville B. Yazza. I love hearing from other hunting addicts about how they are raising the next generation of hunters. Neville has done a fine job with his son and I would love to have him guide me on a hunt after seeing what he helped his Dad bring down. Congratulations Neville on the successful hunt! It was a nice Oct. morning, Bulls in the peak of a  awesome rut. We were hunting here in... [Read More...]

Proud Moment for a Father…

Last July my family bought a Labradoodle and we have had a blast training her and watching her interact with our kids. She really is the best dog and we are so lucky to have her in our family. When we first got her I wrote about my desires for her to be a hunting dog. I have only had the opportunity to take her out once, but she definitely did not disappoint! I will write about that experience in another post because this post is dedicated to my sweet... [Read More...]

Elk Gone Wild!

In my opinion, the rutting elk aren’t any crazier than some of the people watching them.  I wonder if any people got punctured.  Read More →

In my daughters eyes…

In my daughters eyes…

My 2 year old daughter, Lexi, is so excited for Halloween this year. She didn’t really understand Halloween last year, although she enjoyed dressing up. This year she gets it and she is running with it full force. She planned out what she wanted to be months ago, and she is very excited to dress up and go Trick-or-Treating this year. It has made what is normally a rather boring holiday for me, one of the highlights of the year. It wasn’t... [Read More...]

Hunt of a Lifetime?

Hunt of a Lifetime?

This year I was lucky enough to draw one of Utah’s limited entry bull elk tags. As I have been exclusively an archery hunter for the last 10 years, I naturally put in for the archery tag. This year has been a great year for antler growth due to the real wet spring. Feed and water have been very abundant and the deer and elk in this state have shown tremendous growth. I was very excited about getting a chance to hunt in an area that I have guided... [Read More...]

We have found a Monster Muley during the 2009 Archery Hunt!

First off, I want to apologize for the lack of posts the last few weeks. The Addicted to Hunting team is in the middle of our Archery Deer and Archery Elk hunts and it has been a dandy so far! We have had near misses, long hikes, cold mornings, good memories and an afternoon blizzard!I promise more posts are coming with some of our great experiences this year. The greatest moment of all came when Garret spotted a Muley that we think Jason and our... [Read More...]

The time has come!!

The time has come!!

Over the last few weeks we’ve all been gearing up for the opener. This Saturday is Utah’s opener for the archery hunt. Travis and Jason are going to stick to the standard spot and hunt deer. Scott and myself can’t get elk out of our heads until we’ve taken ours so we will be in our limited entry area. There is a lot that has to happen to be ready for the hunt. We’ve been out scouting (Scott more than anyone, he’s... [Read More...]

Hey Utah Residents – Quit Killing the Bears!!

Hey Utah Residents – Quit Killing the Bears!!

We have a serious problem going on  in Utah this year and it involves our growing Black Bear population. It is great living in Utah because our mountains are so accessible, so a lot of people spend their free time in the outdoors. My family is constantly in the mountains, and we are lucky because we have been able to view all sorts of wildlife. It is incredible to witness, and it provides a great platform to teach our children about the outdoors... [Read More...]
